Asterisk@Home 2.8 Xen domU
AAH under Xen
Download (500702KB)
WARNING: This is a 500MB download!

This domU image provides a ready-to-use Asterisk@Home 2.8 installation running on a barebones CentOS 4.2 OS. Yes, Asterisk works just fine in a Xen domU, although you may need to adjust your Xen HZ value to 1000. (Search Google.)

Setup

Before starting this domU, you'll need to create a swap file named 'aah.swap', eg:

dd if=/dev/zero of=aah.swap bs=1K count=64K

The file "aah" contains an example Python setup script for 'xm create', which you can put in /etc/xen/. This Xen domU is setup to automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP at startup, so it should be ready to use once you fire it up.

Accounts

The usernames/passwords are as follows:

CONSOLE LOGIN

Username: root
Password: xenaah

Be sure to change this by typing 'passwd' after logging in via SSH or the console.

WEB INTERFACE

Username: maint
Password: xenaah

Be sure to change this by typing 'passwd-maint' after logging in via SSH or the console.

Support / Updates

Sorry, I don't plan to support or maintain this. I switched to a straight-up Asterisk-on Debian (non-AAH) domU shortly after setting this up, as I wanted to get "under the hood" a bit more.

This is just a stock installation of AAH and CentOS with no modifications, however, so you should be able to obtain support from the usual channels for the AAH and CentOS projects.
